Cleaning Job Price Calculator for UK Cleaners (Free)
Charging too little is the most common mistake new cleaners make. Your price needs to cover your time on site, the products you use and the cost of getting there. Use this calculator to work out a price per visit - then see what you really earn per hour once travel time is included.
How the price is worked out
Price per visit = hours on site × your hourly rate + supplies + travel. Travel is costed at 55p a mile, the HMRC rate for cars and vans in 2026/27, which is also roughly what each mile really costs you to run a car.
The real hourly rate shows what you earn for all the time the job takes, including driving. If it's well below your target, raise the price, charge a travel fee, or group clients in the same area.
Remember tax
This is before Income Tax and National Insurance. As a rough guide, a sole trader in England, Wales or NI paying basic-rate tax keeps about 74p of each extra £1 of profit once over the £12,570 Personal Allowance.
The UK Cleaning Business Kit includes a pricing calculator, client and job tracker, income and expenses with HMRC categories, mileage and a tax estimate. Excel and Google Sheets.
