Universal Credit Self-Employed Reporting Dates Calculator: When to Report Your Earnings
If you're self-employed on Universal Credit you have to report your earnings for every assessment period. You can report from 7 days before the period ends until 14 days after it ends - and DWP won't remind you. Enter the day your assessment period starts to see all your dates.
| Period starts | Period ends | Report from | Report by |
|---|
If your period starts on the 29th, 30th or 31st, it starts on the last day of the month in shorter months. Always check your own UC journal - it's the final word.
What you report each month
- Money in - everything your business received in the period, on the day it reached you.
- Money out - business costs you paid in the period, plus UC's flat rates for mileage and working from home.
- Income tax and National Insurance paid - Self Assessment payments you actually made to HMRC in the period.
- Pension paid - personal pension contributions you made.
If you don't report, your Universal Credit payment can be stopped. If the Minimum Income Floor applies to you and you earn less than it, DWP works out your UC as if you earned the floor.
The Universal Credit Self-Employed Workbook works in your own assessment periods, shows the report-from and report-by date for each one, and adds up the four figures for your journal - plus your Self Assessment figures from the same records.
